The Work Items node in the Team Explorer view provides a tree view of the various work item queries for your Team project. You can create work items and work item queries from this node.
The Work Items directory contains two directories where queries are stored: Team Queries and My Queries. When you expand these directories you see several saved queries. The examples in this section represent a basic implementation of the TFS Work Item Tracking system using an MFS for Agile process template. The image below shows the Team Explorer view when the Work Item directories are expanded.

Team vs. My QueriesTeam Queries are typically defined by a TFS administrator and are visible to all team members. They may be the default queries in an MFS for Agile process template installed by your TFS administrator, as in the example on the left. Or, if your Team project uses a CMMI process template the directory may contain a different set of queries. Team queries may also be customized. If you have permission, you can add a query to this directory. My Queries are user defined and only visible to the current user. When you create a new query you have the option to save it in My Queries, or if you have permission, you may chose to save the query in the Team Queries directory. When you double-click on an individual query, the server returns a results list in the Editor window. You may select a work item from this list to view or modify. For a list of all Teamprise tasks for creating work items and work item queries and viewing results see the User Guide section, Context Menus in Team Explorer. |
