Teamprise Explorer window

Once you have connected to your TFS and created a TFS workspace and added your working folders to your workspace, you can begin using Teamprise Explorer to contribute local assets to a TFS repository, or to download projects already in TFS to your local workspace.

The Teamprise Explorer window is comprised of views. The image of the Teamprise window below is an example of our window arrangement; however you can arrange any of these views to your own preference by selecting a tab and dragging view to another location in the window.

Opening and Closing Teamprise Explorer views

You may close any of these views by clicking the X on the view tab. You can reopen any of these views from the Teamprise View menu.

To see the Team Projects and their contents, expand the top level directory in the Source Control view. When you first connect to TFS the directories are dimmed because they are not yet mapped. The type face changes to black only after a server folder has been mapped to a local folder and retrieved using the Teamprise Get Latest action. See Adding a Working Folder mapping to a Workspace for more information on mapping folders.

At the bottom of the window your connection status is displayed. When connected, you see the url to your Team Foundation Server, the user and domain name, and the TFS workspace you selected when you first connected to TFS. In the example above a user keith is connected to TFS oryx; the workspace is named Moses_mmplugin_trunk, which refers to keith's computer name, deliverable, and location. For more information on naming TFS workspaces, see the User Guide section, Naming your TFS Workspace.
