Troubleshooting TFS workspaces

Display Problems in Source Control view

The Source Control view can also present problems by displaying inaccurate visual cues. For example, when you remove a mapping from a TFS workspace, the directory in the source control view continues to display in black type face (indicating a resource is in source control). The latest status may indicate you are up-to-date with a Latest status set to Yes. Directories with a dark type face indicate these are mapped and downloaded on your local computer. But when you remove a mapping, these directories are not always restored to a dimmed look.

Solution:

The only way to return the dimmed status to projects in the Source Control view after you have removed a mapping is by deleting the old workspace and creating a new workspace. (You will also need to manually delete files and folders in your file system.) Remember, projects in your workspace are also in TFS, so you will not lose any changes, especially if all your pending changes are checked in. After you create the new workspace and workspace mappings, issue a Get Latest to restore the Source Control view.
