In several Teamprise tasks you can specify a particular version type by which to perform a task. The drop-down version menu on the left is available from the dialogs associated with the Teamprise tasks on the right.

Each of the Teamprise tasks on the list give you the option (in a related dialog) to chose a version of your resource. For example, when applying a Label, you can specify a particular Changeset to label, or, you can simply label the Latest Version of your resource. Likewise, when branching a project, you can specify any of the version types from the drop-down version menu to branch. The dialogs associated with each task vary slightly, but the drop-down version menu in each dialog is always the same. The following describes the meaning of each type. A longer description of Changeset and Label (which have their own dialogs) follows.
| Changeset | Refers to the actual changeset number assigned to the item when it was checked in. To view a list of all changesets on an item, select this option by clicking the ellipses (...) and add your search parameters in the Find by Changeset dialog. |
| Date | Refers to the date of a particular changeset. |
| Label | Refers to a label given to a specific version of a file or set of files. A label is usually applied when a project milestone is reached. To view a list of labels, select this option by clicking the ellipses (...) and enter your find options in the Find Label dialog. |
| Latest Version | Refers to last version committed to TFS source control. |
| Workspace Version | Refers to last saved (checked-in) version in your local workspace. |
When you select Changeset from a drop-down version menu in a task dialog and you don't know the changeset number to enter, you can invoke the Find by Changeset dialog, usually by clicking an ellipses (...) next to the field. Use the Find by Changeset dialog to enter other search criteria. See other options below.

In the Find Options:
In the Range options:
When you have entered your search parameters, click the Find button located above the Results section to retrieve a list of changesets.
If you need to examine a changeset further, you can select a changeset from the results list and click the Details button. The Changeset Details dialog lists all files modified in the selected changeset. You can also view any Work Items or Check-in Notes you associated with the selected changeset by clicking their respective tabs. When you right-click an item in the Changeset Details dialog, you can View a read-only version of the file, or Compare it with another version.

When you select Label from a drop-down version menu in a task dialog and you don't know the label name to enter, you can invoke the Find Label dialog, usually by clicking an ellipses (...) next to the field. Use the Find Label dialog to enter other search criteria. See other options below.

You can specify a search by Name, Project (if you have more than one Team project click the down arrow to select from a drop down menu), or Owner (this refers to whoever created the label.) Once you've entered your parameters, click Find.
From the results list, highlight the labeled set you wish to retrieve. Click OK to apply the name in the Label field of your previous dialog.
