Viewing work items

You can view work items from two locations in Teamprise. This section focuses on the Pending Changes view. For information on viewing work items from Team Explorer view, see Managing work items in Team Explorer view.

All work items such as Bugs, Tasks, and Scenarios (or any work item type customized by your TFS administrator) along with related operations and information are organized in the Pending Changes view under the Work Items tab.

The Work Items pane contains:

(Check box) Selects the work item for a check-in operation. Box must be checked to associate it with a check-in.
Work Item Type
An actual work item type. An MFS Agile Team project, for example, comes with the following five pre-defined work item types: Bug, Task, Scenario, Risk, and QA req (quality of service requirement); however, types can be customized, so you may see other types of work items in this column depending upon how your TFS administrator configured the Work Item Tracking feature.
ID An identifying number assigned to the work item in the WIT repository.
Title A description of a work item as it was entered by the person who created it in Team System.
State The status or current condition of a work item. An administrator might define a Bug to be in an Active or Resolved State. The available states depend on how the work item type is defined in TFS.
Check-in Action A type of action you select when associating a work item with a check-in (changeset). If a Bug, for example, is defined to require a value of Associate or Resolve, these options will be available from a drop-down menu. The selection will affect the status of the work item in the repository.

Viewing an individual work item

To see details on an individual work item, including work item description, links and attachments, and history; or, to modify a work item, click or double-click on an item in the query results list to open the work item form. You can also open the work item from the Team Explorer view. The image below is an example of one customization.
